Development Projects for Novi Pazar Erozija Settlement Completed

10 March 2014, Novi Pazar

The technical documentation for the construction of five important buildings in Novi Pazar, developed with the financial support of the European Union and the Government of Switzerland through the European Partnership with Municipalities Programme EU PROGRES, was handed over today to the local government representatives.

The development of main designs for the construction of the Social Welfare Centre and social housing building, kindergarten, primary school and infrastructure in the Erozija area, as well as the diagnostics centre within the Health Centre, cost 92,000 Euros.

“Thanks to this donation, in the forthcoming period the town will submit applications for funding to foreign donors so we can construct these buildings. These are very important projects for Novi Pazar, enabling us to equip the new residential areas with necessary infrastructure”, Mayor of Novi Pazar Meho Mahmutović said.

The new buildings will be of great importance for the citizens of Novi Pazar. The diagnostics centre should cut costs of treating patients who have to travel more than 100 kilometres to have basic medical examinations, and the social housing building will provide appropriate social protection and reduce the number of most vulnerable homeless people.

All designs were developed by the Novi Pazar Urban Planning Department; in 2012 the European Union and the Government of Switzerland donated through EU PROGRES EUR 25,000 computer equipment to the department, thereby significantly improving the work of the employees and enabling quicker development of plans and design documents.
