New Management Systems for Improved Business Operations in Ivanjica Municipality

23 January 2014, Ivanjica

ISO 9001 Quality Management System Certificate and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System Certificate have been handed over to the Ivanjica Municipality today, which made it one of the five local self-governments in Serbia that have introduced these standards, with financial support of the European Union and the Swiss Government through European Partnership with Municipalities Programme EU PROGRES. These standards will help the services for citizens to be faster, more efficient and of better quality, clearly defining duties and responsibilities of the Municipality staff, reducing administration costs and making the governance more transparent.

“Owing to donor support through EU PROGRES, we have implemented numerous projects that are very important for our municipality. These certificates are another project that will help increase the efficiency of our local self-government,” the Mayor of Ivanjica, Milomir Zorić, said.

“Quality Management System ISO 9001 regulates the organisation of the administration, improves efficiency and reduces operational expenses, while ISO 14001 standard provides guidelines to the municipality for the protection of the environment. Ivanjica Municipality has thus demonstrated its intent to improve the services provided to citizens and its competitiveness,” Olivera Kostić, EU PROGRES officer in charge of municipal management and development planning, said.
