EU PROGRES

A modern truck for pumping out sewerage pipes the procurement of which was funded by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland through the European Partnership with Municipalities Programme EU PROGRES was delivered today to the representatives of the Public Utility Company “Waterworks and Sewerage”.

The sewerage network was built in the sixties and since then there were no major reconstructions. Heavy rain frequently results in blockages and spill-outs of faecal water from the sewerage pipes, which affects the health of the Novi Pazar population and it creates problems for households, pedestrians and vehicles. PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” has only one vehicle for cleaning sewerage pipes that is 15 years old and is not meeting even the basic needs of the city.

“This project will solve one of the burning issues in Novi Pazar and it indicates successful cooperation with EU PROGRES,” said the Mayor of Novi Pazar Meho Mahmutović.

Procurement of this vehicle increased the technical capacities of PUC “Waterworks and Sewerage” that will now be able to deliver faster and better-quality services to the citizens of Novi Pazar. The European Union and the Government of Switzerland supported this project in the amount of EUR 117,000.
