X-Ray Machine to Improve Health Treatment of Leskovac Residents

18 September 2013, Leskovac

The Leskovac Outpatient Health Clinic will receive a new digital X-ray machine by the end of November, which will significantly improve the provision of health services by this primary health care institution. The purchase of this machine, which will enable a 10 per cent increase in the number of examinations in this institution, will be funded by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland through the European Partnership with Municipalities Programme EU PROGRES.

The patients of this institution are now waiting to be X-rayed between 15 days and six months. Once the new machine is launched into operation, the patients will be X-rayed immediately or within a maximum of three months. Furthermore, the patients will be less exposed to irradiation and the existing hospital resources will be utilised better.

“Over two million examinations are conducted in the Leskovac Outpatient Health Clinic every year, which is why this institution ranks among the largest of the kind in Serbia. Thanks to the support provided by the EU and the Government of Switzerland, the Outpatient Health Clinic will significantly improve the quality of its diagnostic examinations and the efficiency of its performance. We have not had investments in this type of equipment for thirty years now and the procurement of this machine is very important for the City of Leskovac,” Leskovac Mayor Goran Cvetanović has said.

The value of this procurement stands at 10,589,000 RSD and the X-ray machine is to be delivered within 60 days, during which the facilities in which it will be installed are to be readied.
