Trgovište Gets Water Treatment Plant

The Trgovište waste water treatment plant, the construction which was funded by the European Union and Government of Switzerland through the European Partnership with Municipalitites Programme EU PROGRES with 257,000 Euros, was opened today by Mayor Nenad Krstić and EU PROGRES Manager Graeme Tyndall.

Nearly 1,200 citizens from Leskovac, Bujanovac, Vranje, Prokuplje, Kuršumlija and Nova Varoš have participated this week in environmental actions within the “What is Your Threshold of Responsibility?” campaign, funded by the European Union and the Government of Switzerland through European Partnership with Municipalities Programme EU PROGRES. The action included removing three illegal landfills, and the people from the area had the opportunity to present the environmental issues they are faced with daily.

Within the EU PROGRES campaign "What is Your Threshold of Responsibility?”, targeted at raising public awareness concerning the significance of protecting the environment, Leskovac hosted a street performance on 16 October, gathering representatives of local self-government, EU PROGRES programme, PUC and all interested townsfolk, Leskovac pupils and activists of nongovernmental organisations.

Art Competition for the 2014 EU PROGRES Calendar Begins

The fourth art competition for the 2014 calendar of the European Partnership with Municipalities Programme – EU PROGRES for high-school students from 25 municipalities in the South and South West Serbia, whose theme is “Responsibility Towards Nature has no Limits“, started today. The aim of this art competition is to encourage high-school students to develop their talents and gain awareness and knowledge in the fields of environmental protection, recycling, energy efficiency and prevention of pollution in their homes, neighbourhoods, municipalities and country.
